CHEF Co-op Guidelines and Expectations for Admission

The admissions policy is very important for the protection of the families involved, the teachers, and the administration of the CHEF Co-op. If we accept students and families without a commitment to the communicated expectations, our teachers and steering committee will likely burn out quickly dealing with problems that arise. We strive to maintain a positive environment for all families in our cooperative. Though we do have students who represent a wide continuum of maturity, our goal is to maintain an atmosphere of relative peace and joy. Therefore, these are the guidelines we will use in the acceptance process for the CHEF Co-op:

1 We expect the applicants to be self-governing. In other words, we don't want to put a lot of rules in place to control student behavior, nor do we want to have a lot of punishments to deter kids from bad behavior.

2 We expect that the applicants are motivated by the grace of God already evident in their lives, to be responsible, considerate, appreciative, thoughtful, and committed. These character qualities should arise from a desire to please the Lord in what they say and do.

3 We expect our students to be faithful to class attendance. Students are expected to fulfill their responsibilities by being present and prepared for class.

4 We expect that parents are ultimately responsible for ensuring that student work is completed in a timely manner, that kids arrive on time for classes, and that student behavior problems are addressed quickly when necessary. We are not equipped nor do we have the desire to replace homeschooling authority or responsibility given to parents by God and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

5 We expect CHEF CO-OP parents to take an active role in supporting the co-op. This means that all parents will complete a volunteer registration form to identify their preference in a particular area of service and will faithfully fulfil their volunteer assignment. It also means that a parent will either be present in the building themselves or provide for alternate supervision of their children (See Policies and Procedures under Parental Supervision).

6 We desire that you prayerfully evaluate your level of commitment to the CHEF CO-OP before you register.
